yeah, abandoned blog! what a random title..

happy chinese new year everybody..haha..im a little late..2mrw chapgohmeh alrdy.well, hope u guys had a good time..i definitely had my good time! manage to get the whole 1st week off! which means i was off work from 1st day to 7th day of cny! hehe..ate all i wanted (since i did not have my share of cookies last year)..collected as much angpaus as i could! hehehe..n now im bck here in this ulu-fied place..sick n on-call!

can't i not fall sick for once? i've been always sick since i started working in november. i guess this would be the 4th time in like..2 months? tonsilitis..and the whole works! except for fever..funny thing, im in this line, but i cant seem to cure myself? what an irony!
well, my 'doctor friends' suggest that i get my tonsils removed since ive always been falling sick!

anyways, things are much worse this weekend bcoz im on tdm call! ive to work, run some disgusting blood samples to get some weird readings, most of the time...yesterday morning (saturday) was still bearable, only had a call at 10am..this morning..i was woken up at 7.30am..paracetamol toxicity again! why patients must choose to overdose themselves with paracetamol and not other drugs leh?? me-mafan-kan! came bck..had my brkfast..off i went again to run another sample at 9am...came bck for lunch..had to go bck again at 3pm!! gah.h...thats like 3 times in a row! NUTS!

now ive dosed myself with piriton tabs to stop my leaky nose, n hoping it will make me all drowsy, so that i can get some rest! looks like its not working, coz im still blowing my nose like a useless trumpet! and wide awake blogging..

ok..enough of rants.

and i'm in my room now, still in Temerloh, yet to go back, soon...very soon!
did my on-call this morning, from 9.00am-1.00pm in the OPD. thank goodness the crowd was still bearable, the pharmacy was not that crowded, if not i'll go nuts dispensing, with my minimal sexy-sounding voice!! yeah..

lost 90% of my voice i think, i sound more sexyyy now..yeah! i actually lost only 80% of my voice when i woke up this morning, but thanks to this aunty in the pharmacy this morning, she contributed to the additional 10% lost of my voice! grrrr..

Scenario: aunty comes in with a rx of effexor (venlafaxine) 150mg OD.
Dispensing scenario: dispenses Venlafaxine 75mg OD
me: aunty, take 2 tabs once a day after food.

aunty: but i usually take the 150mg OD one. don't you have the 150mg tablets?

me: no aunty, this is an expensive drug. (LP item) We only purchase the 75mg tablets. Its the same aunty. Just eat 2 tablets at once, it works out to be the same.

aunty: are u sure? i'm afraid the it will provide a different effect! i want the 150mg tabs. You really don't have it?

me: no, i'm so sorry. This is exactly the same medicine aunty. U just need to take two tablets, instead of one. *gaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....my voice alrdy cracking up like a toad at that time!*

aunty: can i have the hospital tel. no? in case anything happens? =.=''

me: ok. I assure u that it is just the same. If there's anything, u can come directly to me, i guarantee u 100% that it works just the same like your 150mg tabs.

got bck. washed my clothes..felt like I was in Glasgow again. But better..at least there's a proper place to hang and dry my clothes, and not use the heater in my room, and the weather's much better here of course..at least the sun shines, and the sky pours moderately..and the temperature doesn't fluctuate randomly! gahh...reminiscing bout the times in Glasgow..hahaha! how blessed am I to be home in my own countryland! kaka!

hiehie! im back..is this gonna be a monthly update thing? haha..i don't know man, have not been in the mood to blog lately, guess my lifestyle has changed, not so sedentary anymore these days since i started working.

ok.1st..sry for the random title. just wanted to update every1 about my life lately. i don't know who reads my blog and all, haha..it feels quite unread and deserted over here though..hahaha..ok..whatever..

so what i've been doing over these past few weeks? Well, its just very predictable. Work starts at 8am, ends at 5pm. Life for me begins after 5pm u see. Me n my other colleagues...hoho..colleagues seem like a really awesome word to use! LOLS..not coursemates, not classmates ok? Yea, since Temerloh is not so 'happening', people here are exceptionally healthy as they exercise whenever they have their free times..Its not like they hang out in shopping malls or anything like that, or sit home in front of the pc for the rest of the day..I came out with this conclusion because the parks have always been crowded with people jogging and exercising in the evenings, and its very difficult to find an available badminton court, if u do not book in advance! Yea, so make a guess of what i do after work! I excercise! LOLS..dats like the only thing i actually look forward to ok in a day..

We go for good dinners after that, as a treat for ourselves after a tiring day, and also not so guilty ma...excercise dy, no need to be afraid of getting fat or anything like that! hehehe! yea, as stated above, temerloh is suppose2b famous for its ikan patin! Yes, i've tried it! Honestly, its quite a yummy fish, not so much of a fishy smell, smooth flesh, best eaten when its steamed with ginger n garlic! hehehe! Theres some other pretty nice food in temerloh that i've tried. There's some really good ikan bakar and the tong sui (pak kor yi mai) which u can find in the same shop, really good....There's this kambing satay in Mentakab (near Temerloh) which is worth the try..

Yea, after reading this, i know whats popping in your mind! Don't u cook Alicia? NO, I dont. Why? coz im just too lazy to. I come back in the weekends, whenever possible, I come bck home every friday nite, and leave back to Temerloh on sunday evenings. If i cook there, i prefer to shop for groceries in temerloh itself, and not bring them over from puchong. imagine u transporting chicken and pork in ur luggage bag back there just to cook for the coming week? arghhh..just too lazy..

So, there u go, a brief update of what life has been for me in this couple of weeks.

Work has been all ok..I just take it as a routine.. u know...haha! well, pay its gona be out in 6 days time!! woohooo..something to look forward to! Well, at least i hope this would be an encouraging factor for me to work on Christmas day, and the weekend of Christmas! Gona be on-call during those days..aihh...no life betul!

I am here, finally here, started working 'officially' as a pharmacist in a really NICE, relatively NEW government hospital! trust me...theres nothing much more u can ask for when u step in this hospital! So what if it has a complicated name; Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah! HoSHAS is what ppl call it around here, coz its just too much for a hospital name! haha!

alrite..hows life around here?

Life's good! I'm just totally blessed.Iive got a place to stay the minute i stepped in temerloh grounds, on the very 1st day. Am currently stayin now in the Hospital quarters, which is merely a 5min walk away from the hospital. I know the word 'quarters' sounds a little, erm...kampung-ish? runned down? yeah, i know thats just totally not the right word to use! hmm...Wait till i get some pics of this apartment! Hehehe...U guys will b so so shocked! Basically, my wonderful housemate, a pediatrician, was offered this unit to stay in, but shes got like an extra room vacant for now, so i'm sharing a room with another of my buddy, from IMU as well..It's good in that way, removes some of the 'lonely periods' while im here i guess. haha!

Whats in Temerloh? ok, for u guys who still have no idea where temerloh is, *I never knew temerloh was in pahang ok before i got offered here, it sounded to me like it was in Perak or something* kakaka! ok,its in the state of Pahang! hehehe! For shopaholics, this is not a place for u...coz there's no shopping malls, megamalls and whatsoever..The only shopping that u can get its perhaps grocery shopping, with small supermarkets popping up in the middle of shoplots. Well, not really a problem for me actually, since i work from 8am-5pm everyday, and i go back to KL like every weekend..so life still moves on, well..at least for the weekends! hehe! ..its not all bad orite..

We met up with some really nice buddies, who always offer to drive us around, and pay for our meals! hahaha! told u, i'm just totally blessed! gosh, u know who u are..thanks guys! We are not starving here ok!!! mommy daddy! I'm eating very VERY well here! We have like 5-8 course dinner almost every nite! and we have fantastic lunches as well, if time permits us to go out for lunch! *esp on fridays..hehehe..TGIF* other days, we just stick to the cafeteria in the hospital, where i'll just stuff myself with some rice (which is just not nice at all, and expensive at the same time) =.=' or some bun or some kuih for lunch..

I'm not exactly a qualified pharmacist yet right now, i've got a special title..hehe..'provisionally registered pharmacist' in short, PRP..so basically, we are sent to every department in the hospital, just to make sure we know our stuff at our fingertips, so that when we are out from this government service after 4 years, and we're on our own, we wont be blur about anything, like how i'm exactly feeling right now at work! haha! So, I'm at my 2nd dept right now, I was in DIS ( Drug Info Service) for 2 weeks, dont ask me what i do there. We're suppose to answer any queries about medicines thru telephone calls that we received..but fortunately, or unfortunately..h.ahaha...not much ppl will call / use this service..so...hahaha! i dont do much of a thing there..

Well, today was my 1st day at FKP (farmasi klinik pakar) ...its like the outpatient dept generally, I sat behind the counters, packing medicines, checking prescriptions, calling doctors when there are any query in the prescriptions, and also taking care of the DD (dangerous drugs) which are really exclusive, coz there are like about 10 of them ONLY, all stored in a cupboard in a room, its like i'm appointed to keep track of the movement of these medicines, and if i lose even 1 DD tab, im basically dead meat la..So, yea..theres basically it..I'm gonna b here for quite some time i guess, so like it or not,haha..im gona be stuck here la..I foresee that I've gota learn lots of things from scratch again..oh well....life of a pharmacist! =.='

orite...as a working woman, my sleeping time now is officially at 11pm.

is there STAR newspaper there? haha...im a daily newspaper reader ok? what am i going to do in that isolated town man? other than read newspaper!

although this is not the 1st time im leaving home, things will definitely be different than before. Its not gonna be like life in Glasgow..although I dont have a car there, things are accesible by sitting 'bus no.11' (I learn this from a lame friend; bus no.11= walking with ur two legs! wth!)
imagine u walking by the road in the horribly HOT weather with MAX UV race! and every 100 metres, there'll be this i***ts whistling at u or screaming some s**t at u! crazy sex maniacs!

alrite..i'm back home again, settled down, got enough sleep, and back to blogging!

ive been working at this retail pharmacy outlet in subang. just when im about to feel comfortable there, the letter comes and tell me im gona be sent to PAHANG! though its been just a short while there, i've experienced lots of funny and not so funny stuff as well..haha..let me share with u some of the scenarios that i can remember..

..old man comes in and buys condoms, tries to hide it, and stares at you like you've done something wrong when u try to offer him some help! kaka

..woman comes in and says that she does not know why her mences aint coming, she might either be pregnant or menapousing, coz the symptoms for both are the same..=.='

..i was trying to learn how to prick the guys finger to test for blood glucose levels..he sort of freaked out and screamed asking the boss to help out, coz i was alrdy freaking out myself, since its my 1st time doing that..and my boss tells me that i've been too gentle, ive to squeeze that guys finger harder so that more blood oozes out! yucks!

..this guy comes in with blood pressure of 190/115...and still Smiles and thinks that hes all normal, when the ideal reading should be around 120/80!! crazy ppl, his blood vessels may explode anytime man!

generally, its been a great experience working there, at least it helped to removed some of the rust in my brain, knowing now that in less than a weeks time, ive to leave for temerloh, pahang to work in the hospital for at least a year! that means leaving home again....removing all my stuff from the cupboard again into the miserable suitcase.....arghhh...hate shifting, hate moving around!

well, hope everything goes well then for me..its gona be a whole new experience again!

Ok..I am no avid story book reader whatsoever, but I have read a couple of books in the past, and did not finish many coz it was just not good enough, in whatever sense that means, to make me 'addicted' and 'stuck' to it. Somehow, this book is one of the few books that made me addicted some way. When u finish one chapter, u wanna continue reading the next chapter and so fourth, and before u know it, the whole afternoon is gone, and ur done with half of the book or something like that.

ok. cut the crap.

so, synopsis? Is just a simple story revolving around this lady, Holly who has recently lost her husband, Gerry who died from a brain tumour. Life was sucky for her after his death. She was all messed up, no longer herself, just couldn't accept the fact that he died. Knowing this, he left her like 10 letters, one for each month, each containing a list of things that she should do after his death, coz he knew beforehand that she would not be able to cope with his death. Kinda like the '10 Commandments' in the Bible. So, there she goes....opening each letter at the 1st day of every month. At the end of each letter, he writes, 'P.S. I love you'. So, there u go...she dreadfully goes thru the things that she would never ever do, if her late husband did not 'order' her to, from cleaning his wardrobe, finding a job right up till forgetting him and find a new true love. What i don't like is the ending...so dumb. A true love comes about, a guy named Daniel...and she just rejects him, coz she cant forget her late husband, who is like alrdy dead!!! Lady...move on man!!! ahahaha...see...so emo man this story..lols.

haha..but overall, i enjoyed reading it! and now i need to read a new book...Recommendations anyone?

ok.the news has been spreading around that u can call up KKM and ask for where u're gonna be posted to, and not just sit and wait for the letter.FINE! i've been calling the whole afternoon today, and nobody seem to pick up my call! FINE! knowing how government services work, slow and steady konon, i patiently waited, kept on trying and redailing the number.

finally, when i got through, this guy tells me that he can't tell me where i'll be posted to just yet, because things are not confirmed yet, and that all info about posting told to the rest of my friends are all bullshit, things might changed, and blablabla...

what the hell are they doing taking so darn long just to place us? i had my interview on the 27th August. whats the date today man! and he says tentatively i'll only start working in november.blardy pissed...im so not gona bother about working with them anymore, am just gona start seeing which pharmacy wants me, am gona start working by october on my own. if the letter comes, i'll work with them. if it doesnt, thats just too bad..

ok.what i have been up to lately? well, waiting for my letter to know where i'll be posted and when to start working..but it seems like the waiting never ends..and with raya around the corner, i doubt those ppl will work like a cow rite? thanks to the fasting and raya month, my posting is pushed aside! grrr..*my patience has its limits!!*

in order to keep myself occupied, i've been youtubing alot these days.as u can see, my last post was a new found fav song, which i think is so cool! coz it was all self-composed by this parmejo guy! it gives me that kinda ALL4ONE grp or some BOYZ2MEN grp feel..missing that kinda songs lately. well, this parmejo guy is definitely something!

i'm gonna post another clip at the end of this post.
and is this another super-talented guy which calls himself by the name of ajrafael. ok. this guy beats the rest la.he's at my top position list of the MOST TALENTED PERSON I'VE SEEN. haha! its not about how many instruments he plays, from the clips, he seems to play the piano and guitar really well. but that is not the thing that amazes me. The best part is he comes up with this fantastically self-composed songs, with so well written lyrics, which just clicks so well with the song.i'm totally lost for words!!!how can somebody be so talented? and he's only 19 yrs old! imagine whats gonna be of him when he learns all sorts of musical skills, as he just enrolled himself in the Berkeley College School of Music, Boston. haha! i'm just so so amazed la..trust me its no easy to composed a song and put the right lyrics in at the right time! i've composed a couple of songs, but not with well-fitted/well-written lyrics,though its kinda fine coz it was for church purposes. well oh well, this ppl are just so gifted! i really look up on them!=)

what else? oh i've been reading!! haha..i know im no bookworm, but ive been reading a little ever since i was in Glasgow a year ago. no idea why, maybe interests do change after certain age..haha! well, is this book written by Cecelia Ahern, called P.S. I love you.
I know this book has been out for quite sometime, coz I remember seeing it in MPH kinda couple months back. claimed to be an international bestseller book.im halfway thru it, and i think its kinda inspirational and heart-touching.haha...kinda burned a hole in my pocket though.RM.35.90!! As u see, I dont usually spend on books, I dont even read often! why is there a need for me to put my money in books?haha! so this is really an awfully huge sum of money for me! it better be worth it..tell u once im done with the book.

Graduation @Sheraton Subang

Nothing beats pharmacy in IMU ok? Which pharmacy graduate graduates 3 times for their degree? haha! I can proudly say now, i am so sick of graduations! =.=
anyways, this was a little more exciting, in a way with the mortar and the tassel hanging around beside my big head..lol. there was more of a sense of completion. One square hat does make all the difference i guess! Well, this is finally the end. THE END! The of studying for an undergraduate degree in pharmacy..woohoo!

btw, theres another thing worth being excited for in this graduation. see the pink and red things prettily wrapped? haha! er, this is quite embarassing, but ok..lets be honest. this is the biggest bouquet of flowers i have ever recieved in my 23 years of my life! and its from my beloved parents!! weeee...thx mom n dad! and its got my fav african daisies in it! wehehehe!

ok.enough of graduation.

lets see, whats next?
i went for my interview yesterday, with the Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam (SPA). and my i thought i was late for the interview..thanks to road closures for the merdeka celebration in KL, i arrived there in the akwardly situated building *in-the-middle-of-no-where* (well, beside taman rama-rama? wow! how strategic that can be huh??) at 8.15am, when i was told to arrive at 8am. Guess what time was I called into the room? 1.15pm! 5 hours of waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if i knew this was going to happen, i wouldnt have woke up like 5am? just to get prepared for the traffic and all! grrrrrr..

well, interview was overall not that bad. they started off asking about expired medicines, wanting to know what I would do, as a professional if patients had expired medicines in their hands...so there i was eloborating and crapping as much as possible...blablabla..yada yada yada...
they sort of dint have any questions left to ask me..for u see..i was the 2nd last person to be interviewed that day, and furthermore, it was 1 sumtin in the afternoon, of course it was lunch time right? bet they were battling with their hungry stomachs in there! haha.

so there u go..they asked me a irrelevant question: 'In your opinion, why do you think the standard of sports today have deteriorated as compared to in the past in our country? why can't we achieved and create world-class athletes in the Malaysian society today?' wth..what has this got to do with pharmacy? as usual, thanks to my crapping ability, i was able to crack something out..haha! you dont wana know what i said..xD

then this guy in there was asking if i mind working in Sabah or Sarawak? of course not! 'Mengapa??' he asked. err..because its so far away from home.so isolated! and he replied,' so??'
errr....so...its sesat la! its so far away la uncle!! haha..of course i dint say that la.i just kept quiet and gave my best ever convincing smile! and he continued 'if no more place in peninsular malaysia dy, then how?' of course have to work there la..ur not giving me a choice what are u...ur like giving me a dead end, of course wherever you throw me to, ive to go lorr...aiseh..

neways, glad interview is over and done with!

Went to putrajaya today..had kinda tough time looking for the kompleks kerajaan..but im proud of myself!! weee..i did it all alone! goodie!!

its a condition that i've self-diagnosed it as something known as keratosis pilaris. As a pharmacist now, *officially* *hehe* i suspect that i'm having this rare, believed to be genetically inherited disease! yikes! mom n dad? own up..who of u has this? haha!

ok..according to wikipedia, and other related web searches, this is a totally harmless condition, also known as 'chicken skin' which more commonly affect women than men of young age. Symptoms usually diminish after the age of 30. *aiks, that means i have 7 more years to wait before i can have unblemish smooth Snow-White skin?? =.="*

this condition usually worsens in the winter when the atmosphere and air is dry, *ouch, useless Scottish weather! destroy my 'sexy' legs* xD AND...worse of all!!!!!!!!!!!! there is no specific treatment for this skin condition, UNFORTUNATELY! many random treatments have been tried and tested, yet there has been no absolute success in any! how sad....

Treatment suggestions: use of an exfoliator, luffa, vaseline..or if in desperate times : treat yourself with a corticosteroid???? whatde.........

I totally need any advice or help..if possible, any professional advice anybody?haha!
help..my legs are screamingggggggggggg for helpppppppppppp!!!!!!!!!anybody??

im back home! yes..exactly.finally.im home to where i belong. good 'ol malaysia!
its been a week since i got back.
things have changed. i dont know whether its for the better or worse though. =.=

shifted to a new hse in puchong, which is darn far...its not any nearby tesco or giant or IOI mall, its way beyond that, lets just say its nearing putrajaya?!?! totally undeveloped area. just a few shophouses surviving. imagine if u do not own a car?? like me! miserably miserable!

ive got to start working soon, if not i'll be officially bankrupt! haha. and thinking that everything in malaysia would be dirt cheap compared to UK, my mind was all set to divide all the prices in RM by 7. Surprisingly, it did not work this way in reality. I went to Sunway Pyramid 2 the next day after i got back, and i realised that stuff here is way more expensive than that in UK. I guess i'm equating ringgit to pounds! imagine a baby-T which cost RM69 = 69 pounds! hahaha! well oh well, i just dont know why, but i feel more comfortable in UK than in my own countryland. Gosh, i'm missing Glasgow alrdy. how am i gona survive this?

thankfully, malaysian food came to my rescue. knowing that im a total sucker for any malaysian food, i went straight to the mamak on the night i touched down KLIA. roti telur bawang and teh olimau ais was my first meal in malaysia. fantastic! haha xD of course, i went hunting around for all i wanted to eat on the following day, and on the subsequent days after that. in summary, ive eaten lots of yummy food, but theres still alot more that im yet to taste! haha...ive had pan mee, char kuey teow, chee cheong fun, nasi lemak, asam laksa, my nyonya kuih, popiah, loklok, ais kacang, all my fruits!!! especially with the fruit season around with all the mangosteens, duku langsat, and rambutans flooding the pasar malams and the pasar pagi! hahahaha.....ive eaten dozens of it now.

upcoming eating plans? haha...of course my ikan bakar, hakka mee, wan tan mee, fried lo bak koh, dim sum, pork noodles, mamak maggi mee goreng, hokkien mee, wat tan hor, what else? hmm...lots and lots more of course! wait till i post all the drooling pics up! hahaha..

wah..rotting again my blog..been lazing around, ignoring to blog, although theres nothing else to do...gosh everythings rotting, my blog, my brain...everything! guess have to start working soon, if not really everything will kulat dy, and nobody would want to employ such a 'qualified' pharmacist! ahem! xD

today is the 23rd, am goin back on the 30th, maths please? haha..7 more days!!!! woohoo..1 more week..and off i go flying back to my malaysian food!! wah! 1 week!!!! i just cant believe it, time flies! i remember marking off in the calendar as the months passed by, yet, it seemed like it was never gonna end..all the classes, exams, then assignments, then exams again..and more exams! ahhh..my 'kon lou' pan mee!!! wahh...i miss u so much!!! so so so much! am gona just feast on my mamak and 'loklok' when i touch down at KLIA before midnight on the 31st, and den am gona feast on my pan mee for brkfast the next morning, and eat as much hawker food as my stomach capacity can take for the rest of the day! not to mention my juicy, succulent malaysian fruits, guava and sour mango with lotslotslots of assam! fuiyoh!! keng!!

ok..enough of mouth-watering blogging! haha..am gonna miss glasgow as well, of course! and its definitely gonna be a sad thing that im gona end my journey here. its been a great year studying here in Glasgow, ive learnt so many things, understood the important lessons in life, learnt how to be a better person in the future (hopefully) *fingers crossed* ! life has just been great over here. im really gonna miss every single bit of my life here, and dont want it to end so quickly honestly. but every beginning has an ending, guess this memorable journey will definitely make a significant mark in my life and it will surely be remembered!

no more looking at words..reading something that will never make sense! or trying so hard just to remember a drug in development or in clinical trials...which cant darn have a proper name but rather some odd 3-numbered combination code like RSD-921, or even within the 26 alphabets, the most complicated arrangement of alphabets must be chosen..'anilinoquinazolines' or perhaps 'pyrolopyrimidine'!! why cant they name a drug with a more sensible easier-to-remember-not-so-complicated name? PHARMACY.. just a weird degree? haha...

ok..enough of talking about studies..am so sick of it!

HIGHLIGHTS of today..the 1st day of my ultimate independence...
..woke up at 11am...
..wore a polo-T with shorts and flipflops out to do some grocery at Tesco...(felt like i was back in Malaysia for once xD..

95 more days..if everything goes well...I'll be back home, chilling with my ais kacang while sweating it out in the mamak stall.

Its gonna be the end of what i would call my 1st phase of life : the studying phase.
thinking about it, having been studying throughout all these years, what have I actually gained? have I been happy throughout this phase of my life? having to rush for exams all the time, making myself go through all that stressful adrenaline rushes of studying, sacrificing my deeply-needed sleep just to study! what have I done for myself throughout this 23 years of life? What would have happened if I did not walk through this phase of my life? There are so much more meaningful things to do and to discover in life. You only live life once, so live it to the fullest, as what the phrase says. Why am I putting myself through this whole big utter nonsense of studying? Tell me about that.

Im just not cut-out for studying. Lets hope this part of my life ends soon enough. Just can't wait for the next phase of my life. Just gonna learn how to appreciate the small things in my life instead...learn how to better love myself and the people around me...

Today we had the final lecture to attend to, the last in our entire pharmacy degree programme..Is that something to be happy about or perhaps something that I would miss? Well, everybody was really enthusiastic about it. The class was never so well-occupied, saw faces that I've never seen before. We had a Dress Code to follow:

Dress code: Labcoats + BNF + lab goggles

A photo session followed after the end of lecture. We had a brief video presentation displaying our pass happy n not so happy momments throughout our lives in IMU right up till today in Uni of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Well, time flies i guess. Reminiscing about the old days, our 1st day at IMU on the 14th February 2006, how we SURVIVED our orientation week, how we had to eat 'jap fan' everyday for lunch, all the sweat, tears and laughters we had together while preparing for our EOS every semester, all the dress code days we had, all the activities that we successfully carried out together as a batch. Well, its been a long and winding journey indeed..but these memories will surely last!

Now, its the momment we've all been waiting for..To pass with flying colours, and to graduate with honour! Its the last bit of this journey.Packed with assignments and studying, its definitely gonna be a rough winding end..Only to be strong physically, emotionally, and spiritually ....will this journey end with joy and contentment!

well.. this week was a totally stressed up week thats for sure. I had a CPP essay to complete..it was due today..a 3000 word so-called-evidence-based essay...which i crap about almost everything...perhaps 2999 words didn't make sense i think..well..u tell me what u think when i first read this:

"A 56-year old man have type 2 diabetes uncontrolled by diet"

i know..its just one sentence..EXACTLY! how on earth do u expect me to crack up something from just 1 sentence? this is not some creative writing man..its SCIENTIFIC..its FACTUAL..its PHARMACY!!! haha...why did i take pharmacy anyway? ...

well..at least i did something i enjoyed doing this week..I participated in a choir performance on wednesday night..check some pics out here..

its 2008..a brand new year.yet im here, having a bad start to a new year..

well, ever since i got back from london, ive been busy preparing for my final year research project.First, it was goin shopping all around north, south, east, and west of Glasgow finding for paracetamol tablets, the source of my project. and my oh my, that was just the begining of my long-lost journey..labs started..being very optimistic, i thought everything would just go the way i hope it would..well, sometimes, its not a good thing to build castles in the air they would say..
obstacles were just coming; one after another, as though it was a never-ending road i was trodding..and it really never seemed to end, right up till this second..well, i would see the last of labs this wednesday like it or not, i dont know whether i should celebrate or mourn for it though. Current situation: almost done with what im suppose to be doing, but...but because results dont look very convincing, that calls for repeats...and u know how sucky it feels to start from scratch again..

i had to resit for this paper called Pharmacy Practice 3 today. The word 'resit' would freak anyone out i guess..oh well, never thought it'll be easy, and it wasnt at all..had a mere bit of confidence before entering the room, yet..all was shattered when i saw all 5 prescriptions that i had to complete in 3 hours. Sometimes, telling yourself to do the best u can is easy, but not when u actually face it in reality..its just 2 different things..u dont feel it until u experience it..well, i really dont wana see my results. im just praying very hard now, that perhaps, a miracle might happen..
ok..this is a distressing post..Im sorry for that. well, at least i know i still can put my hope above, to someone whom i'll always have faith in..someone within me...

Happy new year everybody! my new year resolutions for this year? same old ones i guess, coz i don't seem to be able to achieve any every year. Well, most importantly i guess for this year, is to make sure i pass everything (with flying colours I HOPE) and graduate in June 08! ahh...that is what matters most to me now!

I welcomed the new year in London this year. Was a enjoyable & memorable 3-day trip indeed, although it was too short a trip i feel. The trip would also have been better if not for the rain and the freezing temperatures, not to mention the chilly winds! I would definitely go back! probably during summer instead.

hongkong chee cheong fun..the prawn version..i expected at least MEDIUM sized prawns! look what came out? 'har mai'!! great dissapointment! =.=

Covent Garden..Its what I would call 'KL Central Market' of London.. The only difference is the ambience and the price! LOLS..and the atmosphere of course!

there was some random street performance..it was like a live orchestra! and they played all fantastic numbers of classical music..ahhh..totally melted my heart! =D and the best part is..all of them seemed just so spontaneous! just AWESOME!

We reached London's eye at 6.30pm just to get the best spot we can find..unfortunately, there were alrdy so many ppl around us, an estimate of around 700,000 human beings were on that street that night just for the countdown! we managed to 'conquer' a spot right in the middle view of London's eye, though not right in front..knowing we are 'dwarfs' among the rest of the ppl there..hehe! Honestly, the fireworks were MAGNIFICENT, but...........most dissapointing was the music that 'entertained' us for 6 hours..it was...i wont even call it music..just LOUSY!! all courtesy of BBC Radio...aih.

At the stroke of midnight..the greatest BIGGEST fireworks i've ever seen in my life! just superbly SUPERB!!!!!

Happy New Year! went to watch the new year parade. Honestly, this is the longest parade i've seen...It lasted for more than 2 hours, it was just too cold after 2 hours. We were practically frozen there, and yet the parade was not over..haha..in the end, we gave up, we just left and headed on for lunch..View of London's Eye by day..

well...its been awhile since i posted anything here..updates?

-done and finished with the hospital case presentation..ahh.that was a relief!

-finally, handed up the 1st intro draft of my research project...now thats a 2nd relief!

-now for the finale..EXAMS! thats such a BIG word..yikes! the worst has to be the last! got a paper on the 17th..thats 7 days away..n just manage to flip through a few pages till now..is it just me? or why does 1 page seemed so long? it feels like every page is a never ending page! n i've got 4 never ending chapters to cover..in 7 days! that means i've got 7 more miserable days to bear! before HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!!! ok..lets push that aside..

-as a future pharmacist, i dont even know what im suffering from! ive been having episodes of extreme fullness after meals, a feeling like i-wana-puke after meals, the word is BLOATED i guess..and stomach feels funny..ive been having this recurrent pains as well..which feels like gastric! gosh..am i goin physcologically nuts? or is it really some medical problem im having that needs some serious medical attention? im just gona bear with this till at least the 17th..arghh..what has Glasgow made me into man!

-i seriously, honestly, desperately need a piano RIGHT NOW!!!! im missing it soooo much, i cant even bear to look at my notes anymore! home oh home..dad, mum..can u please cargo my piano over, like pos laju or something? =.=

Research Project-effects of stress on Alicia's lifestyles.

The aim of this study is to analyse the effects of the research project on my daily lifestyle!

arghhh.. get me a life somebody! helpppppp.....

The results of the study:

1) have discovered yet another white hair growing..multiplying..=/

2) a daily zombie surviving on 2 cups of coffee, bd administration :once in the morning, and once at night

3) eats a minimum of 3 apples a day-comfort food

4) gets a max of 5 hours sleep;

5) spends an average of 2.5 hours of meal times per day;

6) spends on average 16.5 hours (24 - 5 - 2.5) in her room trying to get work done (unfortunately..look what shes doing now?...)

7) concluded she needs to read more..coz she discovered that her English proficiency sucks!

Discussion:
if only i knew how to tackle things in a more calm, relaxed manner..without having to drink a drop of coffee, with adequate sleep (>8 hours), with nice BLACK hair, and without having to blog about this!

Conclusion:
no solution found.Back to work!

weekend is here..yet i feel so lifeless, dead..

woke up this morning..felt a little sick..literally sick..coughing woke me up..guess the Flu virus is still lingering in my room somewhere..spent the rest of my morning in Tesco Extra doing our fortnightly grocery shopping....phew..what a morning!

got back..munch on almost 10 pieces (or perhaps more!) of cream crackers for lunch! coz i was just too lazy to make lunch today..and, spent the rest of my afternoon in the laundry room! how miserable that was!

in my room finally, settled down..felt like everything was not going right..just wanted to scream it all out..haha, oh well.i substituted that with singing! ahh..that was fun! i got it all out finally..for the day!

had dinner with fhern..overdosed of vege! >.< with fish&chips! =) and by the time im all settled down, ready to do some literature searching for my research project, there u go..its 11.15pm! gosh..what a miserable day! start to a bad weekend..

Bonfire Night @ Glasgow Green

a great night outing with my fellow friends! A night of FANTASTIC fireworks..accompanied by FANTASTIC music! very romantic atmosphere indeed..too bad..have not found my other half yet! xP..well...what are friends there for? we were practically dancing n screaming all the way throughout the fireworks performance..it was loads of fun..sort of letting everything out! haha!

well, other than the fireworks display which lasted about 20 minutes, the night would not be made perfect without a funfair!..they had the merry-go-rounds, the solero-shot-like thing, and many more others..brings back all the memories..haha..in fact, i felt like i was in one of those movies for awhile..u know...with the 'funfair scene'..kaka!

anyway, had a great night out! shoutout to all my wonderful friends! love ya loads! muacks!

It all started on Monday..my throat was sore.my head was throbbing.

Tuesday came, head was still throbbing, started coughing with phlegm...(productive cough.that is what we learn >.<) Wednesday, phlegm was GREEN..started to lose my voice..

Thursday, almost non-functional physically and emotionally..FINALLY..made a decision to see a GP.coz antibiotics was needed perhaps..Erythromycin prescribed..

Friday, showed slight improvements, though voice was still 'froggy'. At night, pus-like liquid started coming out from me eyes..making it red n sticky..how gross is that! lost one side of my hearing..how sick was i man!

Saturday, woke up at 6am..no improvement in condition..Decided to see a GP. called NHS 24. Was directed to Stobhill Hospital in Springburn, north of Glasgow *ISOLATED area with 'FRIENDLY' aka LOUSY doctors!!!!*

doc: so how can i help u today?
me: oh..ive got some redness n pus coming out from my eyes.lost one side of hearing.having a sore throat currently.
doc: icic.ok.let me check ur temperature..n throat..*checking* so, ur a student?
me: yes
doc: where are u from?
me: Malaysia.
doc: ooo..Malaysia..Ive been there before..like 20 yrs ago..whats that place called? Johor Bahru isit? and..erm Butterworth?
me: erm, yea.
doc: oh..n Penang isit? I remember there was only one skyscraper at that time..n blablabla..(about 5-10 mins chitchating about malaysia)

conclusion, GP dint helped much..pharmacist is as good as a GP..The only thing we lack in is the power to write prescriptions..Condition still the same..

ear-otitis media

lets hope things will get better tomorrow.

a night to remember...

It was a Thursday. What can be worse than a whole long line of lectures throughout the day? Fourtunately, there was CEILIDH (Scottish traditional dance) to complete my day! it was truly a Scottish night.

The night started off with a Scottish dinner; being served with haggis (sheep internal organs), neeps (turnips) and tatties (mash potato). It was not the best dinner I've ever had, but I'm still glad bcoz u can never get to try these stuff back home! no regrets! hehe.

Then, the atmosphere of the room was filled with a 20 minute display of Scottish music, performed by the OTC pipe band. These guys are real good although i've to admit that the music was quite monotonous, and i could not differentiate between them all..Well, every music has its own beauty i guess!

The night went on with the start of the Ceilidh band filling the room with Ceilidh music. This genre of music is one of its kind! Its unique as there is only an accordian and violin accompanied by a keyboard, composing together a fun-filled happy-going music which lasted throughout the night. Its what i feel a combination of jive, foxrot, and even some waltz! believe that! haha! We were taught the different dances, involving very energetic moves, yet still easy and fun to dance with! It was truly a night to be remembered!

Introducing MY SALAD!!!!!!! guaranteed low-fat healthy delicious iresistable salad! xD

Ingredients:
raw cabbage
raw carrots
lettuce
mushrooms
tomatoes
cucumber
walnuts

(usually, i add eggs as well as apples, but because the bowl was not big enough, this limited me from adding anything else!)

Sauce:
i strongly recommend a mixture of mayonnaise, garlic powder, mix herbs, salt and pepper.

haha..ok..i dunno how to put them in nice colourful pretty words..but the fact that i screwed my hsemates external hdd this morning..ALMOST screwed it up..i felt like nothing can be worse than that, especially when she has no backup at all..every single file is in that hdd...i panicked of course! contacted whoever that i could contact to ask for help...thankfully, one HEBAT guy from our class manage to fix the problem...weee..DESMOND..THANK U!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (haha..doubt he knows i even hv a blog>.<)

to top that up, i managed to touched a piano..played on it for 45 minutes!!! ahhhhhhhh..satisfying! mesmerising! lols! i've been wanting to lay my hands on one..its been 4 months over since i last played on one..ahhh..lifes good! and in 30 minutes time, im gona treat my vocals to some singing! hehe..always looked forward to Monday..how can my Monday ever been better than today?...=)

semester 6 has come n gone..n i realised that sem6 has really changed me in one way or another..haha..lets se what have i become..here goes..

1) gain 2kg....n more to come (thats for sure! O.o)

2) FIRST white hair in my entire life!

3) change of taste buds..maggi mee is now my favourite food..hated porridge so much in the past..loving it now..

4) insomnia..proven because unable to fall asleep before 2am every nite

5)aka cookie monster in the making...love cookies to the max...any would do..sweet, sour, salty, u name it..i love it!

6) not a milk drinker in the past..accepting the fact that drinking milk here is a neccesity because its cheap n taste better anytime than the ones bck home

7) improved cooking skills *thats a good thing* haha..at least i can cook more than just maggi mee and fried egg now!

8) an 'aunty' in the making...only go for the cheapest yet the best of anything in the grocery store!

9) been starved of seafood..coz its one of the most expensive foodstuffs sold here..the closest u can get is fish fillets.which u can get from Tesco...one of the cheapest yet as yummy as ever!

AND FINALLY...........

10) is now a more thrifty person *i hope so* haha...thinks a few times before purchasing something...*not at all times ive to admit* but definitely much more thrift-ier than at home!

it was about to come to an end..just a little more to go...one more paper...stood firm..strived ahead.....and.......poof! there u go...screwed the whole 3 hour paper! aihs..

when can i depart with this subject? getting so tired with this dispensing paper PP3...thought i'll be able to get thru this and just forget all about it!all i need is a pass...why cant i pass? why cant i do better? now ive to prepare myself emotionally on how to tackle with the results when it comes out in about 3 weeks time! can a miracle happen? can i get through this? is it still possible? i know with man all things are impossible, but with God all things are possible though...cant do much now..prayer would be the answer to all things..who knows what will happen in the future except God Himself?.have faith and trust in Him!

life oh life..why cant u be like that everyday? had a blast celebrating the end of our exams just now..went to O'Neills for dinner..ahhh...nothing can beat the salmon skewers served there! its mouthwatering, and for a gurl who has not eaten REAL, FISH MEAT for 2 over months now, what more can she ask for but fish..and not ordinary ones, but yummy pieces of salmon meat topped up with healthy salad and fresh bread? ahhh....too bad i dint manage to capture some nice pics of it...had a few shots, but using only a camera phone..will get it posted up if possible..anyway, knowing me..one lazty fella who prefers to write den to post up pics! haha..i will ok..will try my best! at least the determination is there....hehe!

cant my life not revolve around exams? why is semester 6 such a cramped up semester? why am i in pharmacy even in the 1st place? would i have done better if i was given more time? or would it even make a difference if i did not study at all? questions oh questions...more n more of them seem to be popping up my head these days...seriously, up till now, ive gone thru 15 years of my life studying! gosh...am getting really bored with it...guess im not cut up for doin any further research or post-grad or pHD or whatever u call it..coz i cant wait to get over with these and start working..and hopefully, earn some big bucks$$$$$!!! xD haha.. anyway, how do i unstress and unwind? EAT!!!! eating soothes the body, the soul and the mind! just let urself go...and EAT everything and anything u would want to..life is short..u only live once in this world..what life would be the meaning of life if humans dint have to eat? i wonder... anyway, stress level is at its peak now..it has overtaken me..im no longer in control of it..and its gona last for the rest of this month..hopefully not longer than that, that is..if i dont have to resit any of my papers..gosh..will be having FMT2 degree paper on monday, followed by a PP3 exemption paper the following day..hope i'll manage to survive the two...n not screw anything up like what i did today..aihs...just let the bygones be the bygones..am goin to move on with my life..move forward and not turn back..

i know my blog has been dead since june..gosh..its august now? is it? feel like ive lost track of time suddenly..time flies..time really flies! what have i been up to lately?

*been indoors most of the time..reason? unpredictable weather with unpredictable winds that makes u feel like u just wana hibernate in ur room..n they call this summer in scotland! huh?

*studying..still trying to get into that momentum..that 'nerdish' momentum to stay in ur room n not get distracted every 5 mins, eating or sleeping or just doin anything else BUT study! n the worse part is, keeping the momentum for a whole LONG month of august! life is no life with exams every single week! arghh

*eating lots n lots of GREAT LUXURIOUS FOOD!!! and i mean it! who would ever have 'goreng pisang' here in Scotland? who would ever even think of making it...except for my lovely hsemates? keke....*big shoutout to phuayfhern* u rock to the max! the ultimate chef in the making!

as i have mentioned earlier, in my now old blog, http://allykang.wordpress.com, theres just this limit of 50MB free space that they give u..n mine is fully used up alrdy..haha...if i knew about it ealier, wouldnt even hv started it there! haha

anyway, i'll be blogging from here, from now on! look out for my updates!
